Earthquake 5.4 In Borrego Springs

Earthquake 5.4 occured Borrego Springs on July 7, 2010 at 4:53PM (PDT) 11:53 (GMT) according to Caltech and USGS. Borrego Springs is an unincorporated community in San Diego County, California. The Borrego Springs census-designated place (CDP) had a population of 2,535 at the 2000 census. Many residents are seasonal while others
remain year round. Borrego Springs holds the unique distinction of being the only California community completely surrounded by a state park (the largest desert state park in the nation).

The epicenter was 15 miles northwest of Borrego Springs, California.In San Diego, California skyscrapers swayed.The United States Geological Survey downgraded the earthquake to 5.4.Originally the earthquake was 5.9 and 5.7. There was a lot of aftershocks according to the website of United States Geological Survey. The depth of the earthquake was 8.7 miles and 14 kilometers.The earthquake was felt as far away as Las Vegas.
