Will Clemson;s Kyle Parker Sign Contract With Rockies?

Parker, known as a very talented two-sport athlete, lead his baseball team in home runs with 20. Ironically enough, he also threw 20 touchdown passes for Clemson's football team in 2009.

Today is supposed to be Last Day for Clemson's Kyle Parker. His family set July 20th as the deadline for him to decide if he was going to sign a contract with the Rockies and focus solely on baseball OR sign with the Rox for less.

Parker has yet to make his return official. According to Clemson sports information director Tim Bourret, Parker has informed Clemson football coach Dabo Swinney of his decision but Parker wants to make the announcement himself and plans to make a statement through the Clemson sports information office sometime on Wednesday.

Parker said on Friday that he would need incentive to leave Clemson, although didn't specify what that would be. Carl said that negotiations won't pick up steam until Clemson completes its season. The Tigers will host a best-of-three super regional against Alabama beginning on Saturday.

Dabo Swinney, Clemson football coach, said in his statement about the draft selection that he will "sit down with Kyle and his family" to see "where he stands." He also made a point of it to say that Kyle has a "bright future in football" and he hopes "he'll be under center for us this fall."
