MTV Show If You Really Knew Me A Challenge day

 The series is filmed in coordination with Challenge Day, a social program in which trained leaders visit high schools and, in one intensive day, try to break down the cliques and emotional barriers that keep students from getting to know each other.


Like a reality version of The Breakfast Club, each episode of If You Really Knew Me takes place at a different high school, and follows five students from different cliques as they go through the life-changing experience of Challenge Day, a one-day program that breaks down the walls between cliques, and completely changes the way students view their school and each other.

If You Really Knew Me” is an incredibly authentic and compelling document-series that takes us on a 24 hour journey through a high school’s social transformation. It shows us what happens when kids from various cliques decide to break down the walls that divide them and commit to change,” said Tony DiSanto, President of Programming for MTV. “It’s an intense and dramatic experience, but ultimately uplifting and universally relocatable for all of us who have gone through high school or are about to.” As the series progresses, “If You Really Knew Me” touches on a number of issues young people struggle with today, from mental health to cyber bullying. On-air and online, MTV will connect viewers to information and resources for many of the topics addressed in the show, often integrating the network’s core public education initiatives including A THIN LINE, which aims to empower young people to stop the spread of digital abuse.

The 18-year-old, who attends Freedom High School in Oakley, Calif., talks about what she gained from participating in the series and if Challenge Day managed to ease tensions among the groups.
