According to sources, President Zardari was addressing a gathering of PPP workers at a convention here when a man – apparently a PPP worker – stood up and threw something in direction of the President as he (the man) criticized the latter for the UK trip.
Police said one man was escorted from the hall where Zardari gave an address after a shoe was thrown at him, while adding it did not land close to the president.
Although journalists were barred from the event, a spokesman for Zardari’s PPP party told AFP afterwards that the president had defended his handling of the flooding and asked attendees to donate to the appeal to help victims.
