Desperation drives her to work without a permit, at a massage parlour. Torn between several schisms, Mumbai becomes the alien but yet strangely familiar backdrop for Ruth’s quest. She struggles to find her independence and space even as she is sucked deeper into the labyrinthine politics of the city’s underbelly. A city that feeds on her misery, a love that eludes her and above all, a devastating truth that she must encounter. And everyone wants a piece of her.
The theme of That Girl in Yellow Boots is about the life of a girl who has got apart from her father and she is looking for him. The girl is shown coming to Mumbai in her quest to find her father. She had to work in order to take care of her financial needs so she joined a massage center. Once she became a massage therapist she got to know the filthy side of the huge city.
The movie was recently selected for premier at Venice Film Festival and Toronto International Film Festival. It is assumed now, that the scenes of the movie got leaked post screening.
The script of the movie is written by lead actress Kalki and director Anurag Kashyap. The story of the movie revolves around Kalki, who is in search of her lost father and desperately wants him back. In her hunt, she also works in a massage parlor without even a permit and indulges in some sexual activity.
